The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society provides support, education and advocacy to people on central Vancouver Island with acquired brain injuries, their families and friends.

 About Us

The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society is a registered non profit society and registered charitable organization. We are a progressive society providing support, education and rehabilitation to people with brain injury since 1988. Creative, energetic and dedicated, our members, volunteers and staff give the society a firm foundation on which we build firm relationships with clients, family members and our wider community.

We believe that individuals with disabilities reflect the normal diversity of the human community.  Our experience teaches us that most people wish to continue being part of their community following brain injury, and we take seriously the idea of building independence with minimum professional supports.

Through our programs and services, people with acquired brain injuries can go on to enjoy fuller inclusion and participation in the community. Our commitment to skills development for example, enables people to undertake new endeavors such as public speaking, with graduates going on to become local advocates for understanding brain injury and its prevention.
